Expanded Port Canaveral Cruise Terminals

Expanded Port Canaveral Cruise Terminals

Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 5 is finally finished! The Carnival Valor, sailing in on Saturday, will be the first ship to take advantage of new renovations resulting from the port’s transformation project.

This 48 million dollar makeover allows Cruise Terminal 5 to handle ships carrying up to 3,500 passengers (1,000 more than the previous limit). Upgrades include improvements to the terminal building, a 120 foot pier extension, a new 1,044 space parking garage, and new passenger boarding bridges. The terminal’s new dual passenger boarding bridges are adjustable, enabling them to handle ships of varying structure and heights. This flexibility is a major improvement from the old fixed gangway systems.

Carnival Cruise Line will be the primary user of Terminal 5 because of its three ships based out of Port Canaveral — The Carnival Valor, Magic and Victory. Carnival also uses Terminal 6 next door. With the Terminal 5 upgrades, it will be able to use both terminals simultaneously if two ships are in port the same day.

Port Canaveral Cruise Terminals 5 and 10 have been in the midst of major upgrades since last August. With the Cruise Terminal 5 project wrapping up, the port will shift focus to a similar project at Terminal 10 to accommodate additional larger ships.

Carnival-Valor

Carnival Valor is in  Port Canaveral and we couldn’t be more excited! Carnival Valor will offer a series of three- to five-day cruises starting this month, as well as a program of five- and eight-day departures through October. The three- to five-day sailings will take place throughout May, visiting popular ports like Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Half Moon Cay, Nassau and Freeport. The ship will also offer a one-time six-day cruise departing May 15 featuring Nassau, Amber Cove and Grand Turk.

Valor kicks off it’s year-round three- and four-day Bahamas cruise schedule from Port Canaveral Oct. 30, 2016. Ports of call for this voyage include only Nassau, but the four-day voyages that depart Sundays feature Nassau and Freeport. These short sailings are perfect for weekend getaways and Carnival is such an affordable line that last minute getaways on a budget are a real possibility!

Upgrades

In preparation for its new year-round program of three and four-day voyages from Port Canaveral kicking off later this year, Carnival Valor was in a dry dock from April 23rd to May 8th. During that time, Valor underwent an extensive renovation that added a variety of popular dining and bar concepts.

“Carnival Valor offers a convenient and affordable choice from Port Canaveral, with a host of exciting new innovations as well as popular features like a reservations-only steakhouse and nearly 600 balcony staterooms – rare for a short cruise itinerary,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

“We’re sure our guests are going to love all the new features and our travel agent partners will appreciate this exciting new cruise vacation option departing from the Space Coast,” she added.

New features being added to Carnival Valor include:
